Are you shopping for a gardening fan this Christmas? With gardening enjoying such a boom this year, I suspect more of us than ever are looking for gifts for gardeners right now!
I’ve been busy hunting down lots of great gift ideas which are perfect for gardeners, so you don’t have to do the hard work. There are separate sections on stocking filler gifts for gardeners, and gardening gifts for kids too 🙂
Great gifts for gardeners

Let’s start off with a gorgeous houseplant. This Spider Azalea from Thompson & Morgan has beautiful white, starry flowers and a Christmas tree shape – perfect for the festive season. Once it’s finished flowering the glossy evergreen foliage takes over, and the plant will thrive indoors or in a conservatory. You can order it right up until 20th December for delivery before Christmas too.

If you’re buying for a gardener who’s limited on space or just getting started, the Green Basics Veggie Wall from Elho is a great piece of kit. It’s ideal for flowers and veggies that need support, and stylish enough to look at home on a patio. I reviewed this product earlier this year and I’ve been really impressed with it.

Every gardener needs a good pair of secateurs, and these National Trust Secateurs from Burgon & Ball are real beauties. They’re high quality, comfortable to hold, and deliver precision cutting. I’m a real fusspot when it comes to secateurs, and these are just lovely to use.

Great for gardeners who love their indoor greenery, this Fan Palm Art Print from The Hambridge Artist is a generous 60cm x 91cm and will make a real statement. There are three other botanical prints in the range too.

Perfect for someone new to gardening, this Hand tools gift set from Spear & Jackson is lovely quality and covers pretty much everything you need to get started. The wooden handles pass the comfort test too – so important in my opinion.

The Vegetable Garden Letterbox gift from Suttons is a beautifully presented gift for a gardener who likes growing their own fruit and veg. It includes five packets of seed, twine, plant labels, gardener’s exfoliating soap and a cleaning brush. The whole thing fits through a standard letterbox too, so it’s a convenient way to send a no-contact gift to someone you’re unable to visit this year.

If the gardener you’re shopping for is keen on supporting their local wildlife, this book about Gardening for Wildlife from RSPB would make a lovely gift. It explains how to garden for certain species and how to create different habitats for different sized gardens, and has a wildlife gardening calendar to keep you organised.

Watering is one of those gardening jobs that really benefits from being made easy. The Tuffhoze from Hozelock is lightweight, kink-free and super tough, which means it’ll take the strain out of what can be a bit of a chore.

This feeding station from RSPB is great for a gardener who loves their wild birds. As well as looking smart, it’s a really practical design with lots of room to hang a variety of bird feeders.

Having tried out these Razorsharp Japanese Style Scissors from Spear & Jackson for this gift guide, I’m completely converted from the old, blunt pair of scissors I’ve been using for years. This is a seriously sharp tool with carbon steel blades that are perfect for cutting flowers, taking plant cuttings, and bonsai. A great gift for real gardening fans.

If you’re buying for a gardener who loves minimalist design, the Loft Urban Bowl from Elho is sleek and modern. Designed specifically for a patio, it’s made from 100% recycled plastic and is available in ten colours. I think it would look great as the centrepiece on an outdoor table.
Stocking filler gifts for gardeners
In my experience, even the most well-stocked gardener loves a little something to add to their supplies. Here’s a selection of stocking fillers that are all under £15.

A windowsill herb garden is a lovely way to grow your own on a small scale, which makes it ideal for novice gardeners and those who don’t have a garden. This Gin cocktail herb garden from Unwins contains everything you need to grow four tasty herbs that are perfect for gin cocktails. You can of course cook with them too!

I’ve had one of these Kneelos from Burgon & Ball for a few years now, and I wouldn’t be without it. I use it every time I garden, and it’s by far the most comfortable kneeler I’ve ever had. It has a core of shock-absorbing foam, which is surrounded by cushioning memory foam and covered in waterproof, durable neoprene. There are lots of colours to choose from too. If the gardener you’re buying for hasn’t already got one, you can’t go wrong.

Gardeners’ hands take a bit of a battering, which means a really good hand cream will always go down well. I’ve been using the Caring Hand Cream from Nursem and it’s quite frankly amazing. It has been developed with nurses to combat the effects of relentless hand washing, and leaves even the driest of hands feeling comfortable without any greasiness. I love the fact that Nursem give a month’s worth of product to a nurse or midwife for every item sold too.

Plants have so much history and folklore behind them, and the Kew Witch’s Garden book explores over 50 of the world’s most powerful, harmful, legendary and storied plants. A lovely coffee table book for those who like to explore the more mystical side of gardening.

Not every gardener likes to wear really thick socks, and that’s where these Boot Cuffs from Adventure Accessories come into their own. They’re handmade using chunky yarn, and will keep ankles nice and toasty. They’d be brilliant for camping and hiking too.

If indoor gardening is their thing, the Houseplant and Terrarium Tool Set from Burgon & Ball will be ideal. With small tool heads and long handles, it’s perfect for caring for succulents, cacti and tricky-to-access terrariums. I’ve recently started using this kit and it’s a game changer!

Doodle Gardener from Suttons is perfect for a horticultural fix on those days when the weather keeps gardeners indoors. There are 75 illustrations with ideas like turning the Louvre’s iconic pyramid into a greenhouse, designing your own maze, and experimenting with topiary. Great for a bit of fun, but also a nice way to spark the creative process of garden design.

These leaf print organic cotton handkerchiefs from LittleLeaf Organic are proof that practical products don’t have to be dull. They’re ethically produced and sustainably made using solar power, and the organic cotton is really kind on the skin.

The mini slate garden sign from Always Personal can be personalised with two lines of text. It makes a great stocking filler, I also think it would be brilliant for a young gardener’s very own little patch.
Gardening gifts for kids
In my opinion, lots of gardening products are perfectly suitable for kids to use too. That said, there are also some lovely gift ideas out there which are perfect for little green fingers. Here’s a selection of my favourites.

Child-sized gardening tools can make all the difference to how easy it is for kids to get stuck in with gardening. These Kids Digging tools from Kent & Stowe are just like high quality adult tools, but made smaller. This means they’re strong and comfortable to hold, while also being light and easy to use. A lovely gift for young gardeners that will stand the test of time.

Child-sized hand tools are also a great idea for kids who love gardening, and these personalised hand tools from PomPom would make a nice stocking filler. They’re made from wood and metal, which means they’re durable and more eco-friendly than plastic tools. Kids will love the bright colours too.

Container gardening is a great option for kids, because it’s easy for their little hands to manage, and is a practical way to give them their own little patch to look after. These eco-friendly Mini-Meadow Bamboo Pots from Seedball are a great option for young gardeners, and a lovely way to support local garden wildlife too. Everything you need to create a mini-meadow is in the box, and there’s a Garden Meadow, Bee Mix or Butterfly Mix to choose from.

This National Trust kids watering can from Burgon & Ball is the perfect size for little hands. It’s beautifully made and comfy to hold, and I bet kids will love the cheery colour and fun design.

How cute is this? The Little Leggy Terracotta planter from Sasse & Belle is perfect for a small houseplant and is a big hit with my youngest. Of course there’s no reason why you can’t buy it for a grown-up too!
I hope these ideas for gifts for gardeners give you lots of inspiration, and make your gift shopping a bit easier this year. And if you’ve got any gift ideas to add I’d love to hear them!
