I’m in a state of shock today; I’ve just realised we are 3 weeks away from the school Summer holidays. How did that happen?
To add to my sense of panic, we’re off on holiday the day after term ends, so I really need to be prepared before that final bell on the last day of school. There’s blogging work to schedule, days out to arrange and packing to plan, all on top of everyday life. Deep breaths….
We’re holidaying in the UK this Summer, staying with the grandparents in Devon (are you ready for us Granny and Grandpa?!) and planning lots of day trips to the beautiful beaches down there, so one of the jobs on my holiday list is to sort out our beach toys. We’ve got a little bit ahead of ourselves on this one because the kids have been having a great time reviewing Scrunch buckets.
We’ve had lots of hard plastic buckets in the past and without fail they’ve all lasted a short while before becoming brittle, snapping at the handle or breaking at the base. They also take up lots of space when we pack them into the car boot. The Scrunch bucket is different; it’s made of non-toxic silicone so it can be rolled, folded or scrunched into a small space, which is great for storage and when you’re struggling to fit everything into the car boot for a day out. It’s strong and tough and the matching rope and solid handle make it really easy for kids to carry.
The kids loved their Scrunch buckets straight away. The colours are REALLY bright which appealed to them, they’re also very tactile to hold and touch and the fact that you can squish them easily was a big hit. Sam and Lily had free reign to choose how they were going to use their buckets, here’s the outdoor play ideas they came up with.
Lily is a big fan of water play so she chose straight away to use her bucket to make ‘a fairy potion’. In went water, pebbles, petals and sticks and she was quickly lost in a world of her own.
At almost 4 years old she struggles to carry buckets of water around, but she managed perfectly fine with the Scrunch – it’s a good size for younger children and the handle really helps them as it spreads the weight comfortably on the hand.
Sam chose a sportier test for his bucket, using it as a target for ball toss. The bucket doesn’t tip over easily so this game worked really well. Meanwhile his sister was trying out another use for her bucket….
Sam also wanted to try his bucket as a plant pot so we got busy with the compost. I love this idea; the bucket is so bright, it’s a really cheery way to display a little flowering plant.
We’re really impressed with our Scrunch buckets, they’re high quality, durable, practical and fun for the kids to use. We’ll definitely be taking them on holiday, they’re perfect for travel and I’m sure they’ll be used endlessly at the beach for collecting shells, carrying water and building sandcastles. The Scrunch bucket costs £7.99 and is available from Cheeky Rascals in a range of colours. Do you think you’ll be adding one to your holiday packing list?
I was gifted the scrunch buckets for review purposes, all opinions and comments are honest and genuine.
